If your drive has errors or you have turned off your computer without doing the regular shutdown then it’s recommended that you do a check disk with CHKDSK, here is how you can do it.
- Type CMD or Command Prompt in Windows Search
- Right-Click on the Command Prompt app from the search result and select Run as Administrator.
- In command prompt type CHKDSK <Your Drive Letter>: /F (eg. CHKDSK D: /F), if you want CHKDSK to also scan for bad sectors which takes a very long time then you can add the /R option. Now you should wait until the scan is complete and if it finds errors, it may ask you if you want to fix them.
- After you run CHDSK it is recommended that you run a Scan and Clean with the FREE version of WinSysClean to remove all the junk files from Windows Temp folder. Here you can download the FREE version of WinSysClean https://www.usro.net/products/winsysclean
